Secrets of the Wuhan Lab

SPECIAL KIND OF STUPID

Wuhan Lab

“We have not funded ‘gain-of-function’ research on this virus in the Wuhan Institute of Virology [wiv]. No matter how many times you say it, it didn’t happen.” — Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the nih’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases [niaid] since 1984, arguing with Sen. Rand Paul (R, KY) and denying he funded the laboratory enhancement of covid to make it more dangerous despite clear evidence, Senate hearing, via c-span, 5/11/21

“Dr. Fauci came to Congress yesterday and lied. We can’t prove the virus came from the [Wuhan] lab. I’m not saying it did. I’m saying there is very much suspicious evidence that it might have.” — Sen. Rand Paul, Fox News, 5/12/21

“It is a puzzling position on Fauci’s part. One thing that is clear was that the nih was funding research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Dr Fauci is not denying that. He is simply denying the kind of research that took place. I think there might be [narrow] language that he is relying on, but he didn’t explain his reasoning.” — Nicholas Wade, science writer, Republic World, 5/14/21

After being told for the past year that anyone who questioned China’s ludicrous explanation of how covid-19 emerged — just one of those things in nature — is a racist conspiracy nut, the facts are finally coming out, albeit in dribs and drabs. The Chinese Communist Party [ccp] has done a massive purge of evidence of Chi-Com culpability, and in the process relied on useful idiots in the Western media and on the left to carry out its propaganda campaign.

But the truth never stays buried. It’s crystal clear to anyone paying attention that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was Ground Zero for this terrible pandemic that was likely completely avoidable. Whether released accidentally or intentionally (you be the judge as you read this), the dangerous research should never have taken place at all.

And that’s where the sainted Dr. Anthony Fauci comes in. Far from being the hero the media has touted, Dr. Fauci’s fingerprints are all over the funding of this catastrophic research, the results of which continue to inflict sickness, death, and economic ruin on the world. While the cover-up continues, here are some of the inconvenient truths we’ve learned thus far:

Fauci Funding

  • “Scientists in laboratories all over the world have for the past decade been collecting dangerous viruses and making them even more dangerous by performing ‘gain-of-function’ experiments on them — manipulating the viruses to make them more infectious or deadly or both… [M]uch of this work has been done in the U.S. and abroad with funding from the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which Dr. Fauci leads.” — Newsweek5/14/21
  • “For years, Dr. Ralph Baric, a virologist in the U.S., has been collaborating with Dr. Shi Zhengli [‘Bat Lady’] from the Wuhan Virology Institute, sharing his discoveries about how to create super-viruses. This gain-of-function research has been funded by the nih.” — Sen. Rand Paul, Senate hearing, documented information denied by Dr. Fauci, via c-span, 5/11/21
  • “Scientists from the U.S. and the Wuhan lab joined up on experiments that involved making bat coronavirus more infectious… ‘[G]ain-of-function’ research … [is] controversial because it could create a lethal virus that escapes and causes a pandemic. So risky, the U.S. temporarily halted such studies in 2014. But an exception was made. The ‘gain-of-function’ research underway by the U.S. and Wuhan scientists was reviewed and approved for continued study by the National Institutes of Health. nih didn’t only approve the research, it paid for it with six grants of tax dollars, including from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, led by Dr. Anthony Fauci. More taxpayer money from Fauci’s institute and the U.S. Agency for International Development was funneled to the coronavirus research with China through EcoHealth Alliance, a New York-based nonprofit led by Peter Daszak, a zoologist who specializes in viruses transmitted from animals to people.” — Real Clear Politics, 4/27/21
  • “The Godfather of [gain-of-function virology research], the head of the pyramid, is … Anthony Fauci… Basically, he is the one disbursing all the grants for this, he is the one who pushed to turn it back on… [T]he White House put a pause on it and he undid the pause.” — Josh Rogin, Washington Post columnist, quoted at National Review, 4/26/21
  • “Like many in the world of virology research, [Fauci] has a vested professional interest in downplaying the likelihood that so-called ‘gain-of-function’ research — of the kind performed at the Wuhan lab — not only failed to prevent the ongoing global pandemic but actually may have played a hand in unleashing it.” — Josh Rogin, National Review, 4/26/21
  • “There’s a huge ethical question about the origins of the virus. The ethical question is should we be doing gain-of-function, should we be upgrading animal viruses in the lab to make them more susceptible to humans… We have to ask Dr. Fauci, why did he, in overseeing these labs, allow gain-of-function? Why did he allow labs to get money to upgrade animal viruses so they can infect humans? We got worried about this around two or three years ago. We closed down about half of them, but then Dr. Fauci and his committees opened them back up.” — Sen. Rand Paul, on Fox News, 4/25/21
  • As reported by The New York Post on 4/29/20, Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases had shelled out a total of $7.4 million to the Wuhan Institute of Virology lab.
  • nih had supported gain-of-function research through the EcoHealth Alliance, but cancelled it on April 24, 2020, reported Newsweek. Per the project proposal, according to Richard Ebright, infectious disease expert at Rutgers, the experiments “would enhance the ability of bat coronavirus to infect human cells using techniques of genetic engineering.” According to Newsweek, the gain-of-function research that Fauci so ardently supported “entailed risks that worried even seasoned researchers. More than 200 scientists called for the work to be halted. The problem, they said, is that it increased the likelihood that a pandemic would occur through a laboratory accident.”

Wuhan Origin

  • “As scientists with relevant expertise, we … must take hypotheses about both natural and laboratory spillovers seriously until we have sufficient data… Public health agencies and research laboratories alike need to open their records to the public.” — Letter signed by 18 scientists, criticizing the World Health Organization [who] for not giving “balanced consideration” to the lab-leak theory and demanding further investigation, published in the journal Science, 5/14/21
  • “[A lab leak] might be the most likely explanation of the origin of the pandemic. That’s the conclusion that acclaimed science journalist Nicholas Wade came to recently [5/2/21] in a detailed post on Medium, where he meticulously examines the Wuhan lab-leak hypothesis, and finds the case for it plausible but unproven, while the case against it, and for a natural origin, is shockingly thin.” — Noah Millman, “The Wuhan Lab-Leak Hypothesis Deserves Relentless Investigating,” The Week, 5/13/21
  • “A classified study of the origin of sars-CoV-2 [the virus that causes covid-19] conducted a year ago by scientists at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the Department of Energy’s premier biodefense research institution, concluded the novel coronavirus at the heart of the current pandemic may have originated in a laboratory in China.” — wlja-abc News, 5/3/21
  • “There are scientists all around the world who have told me that they believe the most likely origin of covid-19, of the pandemic, is an accidental lab leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology… Many of these people are afraid to step forward. They’ve called it career suicide, because … [of] the Chinese government’s collaboration … with some very high-level and prominent scientists.” — Sharyl Attkisson, investigative journalist, Real Clear Politics, 4/27/21
  • “I still think the most likely etiology of this pathogen in Wuhan was from a laboratory — you know, escaped. It’s not unusual for respiratory pathogens that are being worked on in a laboratory to infect a laboratory worker.” — Dr. Robert Redfield, former head of the Centers for Disease Control, Reuters, 3/26/21. The New York Times tut-tutted: “Ex-cdc Director Favors Debunked covid-19 Origin Theory.” Dr. Fauci dismissed Redfield’s comment as just “an opinion,” which “most public health individuals [don’t] go by.”

Chi-Com Military

  • “Chinese Military Scientists Discussed Man-Made Coronavirus Attack [in 2015] Years Before covid-19 Pandemic.” The Epoch Times, 5/11/21
  • “[W]e request that the U.S. Department of State release unclassified documents and declassify other documents … that the [wiv] … collaborated with the Chinese military in conducting … laboratory animal experiments.” — Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R, WA), letter to Antony Blinken, Biden Secretary of State, 5/6/21
  • “[S]cientists with knowledge of the matter told me the U.S. government conducted genome sequencing almost immediately in the pandemic… covid-19 shows clear hallmarks of man’s intervention [in the lab]… They’re highly critical that a U.S. research collaboration [of nih and Fauci’s niaid] was allowed with China, a Communist nation that has an active bioweapons program.” — Jamie Metzl, member of the World Health Organization International Advisory Committee on Human Genome Editing, Real Clear Politics, 4/27/21
  • “Scientists studying bat diseases at China’s maximum-security laboratory in Wuhan were engaged in a massive project to investigate animal viruses alongside leading military officials — despite their denials of any such links. Documents obtained by The [UK] Daily Mail … reveal that a nationwide scheme, directed by a leading state body, was launched nine years ago to discover new viruses and detect the ‘dark matter’ of biology involved in spreading diseases… That such a virus-detection project is led by both civilian and military scientists appears to confirm incendiary claims from the United States alleging collaboration between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the country’s 2.1 million-strong armed forces… [T]eam leaders include … Cao Wuchun, a senior army officer and government advisor on bioterrorism.” — The [UK] Daily Mail, “Worrying New Clues About the Origins of covid: How Scientists at Wuhan Lab Helped Chinese Army in Secret Project to Find Animal Viruses,”4/24/21
  • “Despite the wiv presenting itself as a civilian institution, the United States has determined that the wiv has collaborated on publications and secret projects with China’s military. The wiv has engaged in classified research, including laboratory animal experiments, on behalf of the Chinese military since at least 2017. The United States and other donors who funded or collaborated on civilian research at the wiv have a right and obligation to determine whether any of our research funding was diverted to secret [bioweapons] Chinese military projects at the wiv.” — Trump Administration’s final “Department of State Fact Sheet: Activity at the Wuhan Institute of Virology,” 1/15/21
  • “Based on my investigation … it is clear that the virus was developed in a military laboratory. The genomes that are found in the coronavirus found in bats were modified to become harmful human viruses.” — Dr. Li-Meng Yan, “covid Was Made in Chinese Military Laboratory, Says Doctor Who Fled China,” The [UK] Sunday Guardian, 9/26/20.

Lies and Cover-Ups

  • “Let me be very clear, we never approved any grant that would have supported gain-of-function research on dangerous coronaviruses to see if they could be more transmissible or lethal for individuals in the human species. That was not something that we would have done.” — Dr. Francis Collins, nih Director, admitting it was “appropriate” for nih to fund Chinese research into bat coronaviruses and besides, the agency “can’t absolutely prevent somebody who has an intention of deceiving us about how they use the funds,” quoted in The New York Post, 5/14/21
  • “All our research work is open, is transparent.” — Dr. Shi Zhengli, Director of the Center of Emerging Infectious Diseases at wiv, seminar at Rutgers University, Fox News, 5/7/21
  • “For over a year, anyone asking questions about the Wuhan Institute of Virology has been branded as a conspiracy theorist … [T]he ccp has done everything it can to block a credible investigation.” — Sens. Josh Hawley (R, MO) and Mike Braun (R, IN), letter to Biden Administration calling for declassification of intelligence involving wiv ties to pandemic origins, National Review, 4/22/21
  • “It’s Much More Likely the Coronavirus Came from Wildlife, Not a Lab.” — Josh Fischman in Scientific American, calling any possibility of a wiv lab leak “fact-free speculation” that “has fueled a tremendous wave of Asian racism in the U.S., contributing to hundreds of acts of violence and terrorized communities,” 4/2/21
  • “The … gang of right-wing media outlets are also posting fraudulent claims about my work in a ploy to undermine the who covid-origins report.” — Dr. Peter Daszak, EcoHealth Alliance president, who put the entire world population at risk by funding the dangerous gain-of-function experiments in wiv lab, on Twitter, 3/31/21. Daszak was hired by who and China to marshal their “investigation” of the origins of covid, which concluded — surprise, surprise — that it was “very unlikely” that it started in a lab.
  • “[M]any of the scientists who spoke out to defend the [wiv] lab were Shi’s research partners and funders, like the head of the global public health nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance, Peter Daszak; their research was tied to hers, and if the Wuhan lab were implicated in the pandemic, they would have to answer a lot of tough questions… Beijing threatened Australia and the EU for even suggesting an independent investigation into the origins of the virus.” — Josh Rogin, Politico, 3/8/21
  • “For more than a year, the Chinese Communist Party has systematically prevented a transparent and thorough investigation of the covid-19 pandemic’s origin, choosing instead to devote enormous resources to deceit and disinformation.” — “Department of State Fact Sheet,” 1/15/21
  • “I was working in the who laboratory in the University of Hong Kong … [and was asked in December 2019 to investigate] what exactly was happening in cases of this new ‘pneumonia’ in Wuhan… There were clear medical markers to show that human-to-human transmission was happening. The government, however, was not allowing the people to talk about it … [So] there was no protection, no isolation, no diagnosis of the cases… Later, the government started spreading that the virus had come from the [Wuhan] seafood market, which is a smokescreen. No animal was involved as an intermediate host, which the government tried to make people believe… I communicated all this to my supervisor and … co-head of the who laboratory… They all knew it, but they hid it. My supervisor told me to be careful and not to cross the ‘red line.’” — Dr. Li-Meng Yan, The [UK] Sunday Guardian, 9/26/20
  • “Most emerging human viruses come from wildlife… [S]cientific research indicates that there is no evidence that suggests the virus was created in a laboratory.” nih statement, denying reports that covid originated in Wuhan lab, Newsweek, 4/28/20
  • “We stand together to strongly condemn conspiracy theories suggesting that covid-19 does not have a natural origin. Scientists … overwhelmingly conclude that this coronavirus originated in wildlife… We support the call from the Director-General of who to promote scientific evidence and unity over misinformation and conjecture… We invite others to join us in supporting the scientists, public health professionals, and medical professionals of Wuhan and across China. Stand with our colleagues on the frontline!” — statement of virologists in The Lancet, 2/19/20. According to Nicholas Wade in The New York Post“It later turned out that The Lancet letter had been organized and drafted by Peter Daszak… If the … virus had indeed escaped from research he funded, Daszak would be potentially culpable. This acute conflict of interest was not declared to The Lancet’s readers.”

This nightmare is far from over. In The Washington PostRutgers University microbiologist and biosafety expert Richard Ebright warns that this $200 million gain-of-function research — funded in part by U.S. taxpayers and supposedly meant to “predict” virus outbreaks — is set to explode into a $1.2 billion Global Virome Project. According to Yale, this project has the stated goal of “detecting” half a million new viruses that “pose imminent threats to humans” in order “to avert future pandemics.” As Ebright explains, “The plan is, having failed to predict and preempt and having possibly triggered the current pandemic, to increase the scale six times.”

Not just no, but hell no.
